The free tier is real

Kit (the platform formerly called ConvertKit) is unusual in giving you a free plan that can actually sell digital products and paid subscriptions — most "free" newsletter tiers can't. Kit's free Newsletter plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers with unlimited landing pages and broadcasts. If you're under 10,000 subscribers and just need to send and sell, you can run on Kit for $0/month in platform fees, paying only the commerce fee below on what you sell.

Above 10,000 subscribers you move to a paid plan, and the price scales with your subscriber count — verified here from Kit's own pricing slider across every bracket. Creator and Pro pricing

Creator is the main paid plan. Billed annually it runs about $140.83/month at 15,000 subscribers, $165.83/month at 25,000, and $515.83/month at 95,000 — the top of the published ladder, above which it's contact-sales pricing. Pro adds advanced reporting, a newsletter referral system, and deliverability tools, starting around $207.50/month at 15,000 subscribers. The fee that's easy to miss

Kit's plan fee isn't the whole story if you sell paid subscriptions or products. Kit Commerce charges 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction on what you sell — and importantly, that fee *includes* payment processing, so you don't pay Stripe separately on top of it. That makes Kit's all-in cost on sales lower than a naive "plan fee plus Stripe" estimate would suggest. It is also the only fee a free-plan list pays, which is why Kit comes out cheapest in most small-list comparisons on this site.
